What is Specialized Testing?
Specialized testing is testing that goes beyond what your MD would run in office. It includes anything from blood tests, to salivary tests, to urine tests, to stool tests.
Often in our naturopathic appointments, we will suggest completing some form of lab work. We do this because it allows us to truly understand your unique physiological requirements and barriers to health, and ensures we are targeting treatment appropriately. Without understanding what is happening internally, there is no way we can target and customize treatment confidently.

Who Benefits?
We strongly believe everyone benefits from specialized testing. Whether it’s baseline health testing covering things like blood sugar and cholesterol, or more advanced testing for things such as hormones, knowing what your baseline levels are can be extremely helpful for feeling better now, as well as gaining a greater understanding of your health which will benefit you for years to come.
Are These Tests Covered by OHIP or Insurance?
Since we are private health care practitioners these tests are not covered under OHIP. Certain extended health care plans do cover the costs of specialized testing. Please contact your insurance provider for more information.
what to expect
How Do I Obtain Testing?
We cannot requisition testing without first completing an initial naturopathic assessment. In order to obtain testing, please book an initial naturopathic appointment with your desired practitioner. Your practitioner will be able to direct you on which tests are most indicated for you and your unique health concerns. Typically 1-4 weeks after your initial appointment, you will meet with your practitioner for your first follow up visit to discuss the results of your tests in detail, as well as to go over treatment changes based on your results.
